Happy Birthday Mom!

Happy birthday to my best friend!  I love you!

That's right folks.  Today is Mary Houston's birthday.  I hope your school year is off to a good start!  I have learned so much from you throughout the years and I know the lessons will never stop!

You are one amazing lady!  What would I do without you?!?!
All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother.

Reading in Español

I wasn't sure how my 1st and 2nd graders would take to "reading" books in class after they were finished with their work.  To my amazement and happiness, they loved it.  It was great to be able to listen to them try to sound out the words in Spanish.  It really was an encouraging moment for me as a new teacher.  I can't wait to use more books now in my teaching!

Compassion for Pakistan

These past two weeks, the elementary took part in a fundraiser to help the people of Pakistan.  In the hallways, their were collection boxes for children’s clothing, blankets, towels, and linens.  Each homeroom teacher also had an envelope for the collection of 10QR donations. For each 10QR donation, a  “Compassion Ticket” was given to the students.  Compassion is one of the four ASD values.

These signs were posted all around school.

Another box near my classroom.  Since I am not a homeroom teacher, I didn't get a box, but it was great to see the compassion and commitment to help those in Pakistan.
