The end of October was a very busy time. However, I was so happy and pleased that I was able to see some of the films at the
Doha Tribeca Film Festival . Be sure to check out the website for the
Doha Film Institute for a listing of all the great films that were showing.
I had the pleasure of seeing three different films:
All three were very powerful films. Tears of Gaza is a film everyone should see in order to experience a little bit of the reality of what has happened and continues to happen in Gaza. My favorite film was The 2 Escobars, which visits the times of fantastic Colombian soccer and powerful drug lords. I had the pleasure of viewing this documentary on the beach. In hope of capturing something of the ambiance, I've posted some of the pictures that I took that night.

The film festival touched ASD as well. An 11th grade student created her own short film. The entire project was completed on her own time. Her one minute filmed titled
Whispers of the Past was entered in the film festival. Furthermore, her film was so impressive that the Doha Film Institute even made a video about her making her video:
On Set: Whispers of the Past
My friend Ann Durham has some great posts about the festival as well:
